Super Mario Galaxy Super Mario Galaxy is the latest installment in the Mario Franchise from Nintendo coming out on the Nintendo Wii. Not alot is known about this title, but here is some of the things we do know.
The Current Design and Development are headed by It is being developed by Nintendo EAD Tokyo, a recently formed studio. The game was first announced at Nintendo's E3 2006 press conference on May 9, 2006.
From hints from the developers and Nintendo themseleves this is what we firgue the story is about: "After Princess Peach is kidnapped by an unknown villain, Mario must follow the culprit all the way into outer space. In space, Mario finds a world very different from the Mushroom Kingdom. Some of the areas are spherical, allowing Mario to travel completely around them, while others are flat.
Most argue Super Mario Galaxy is stay close to it's Mario 64 roots as designers from both Super Mario Sunshine and 64 are present in the development. But, some ask what to expect from a game like this? And how soon will it come out? Well, the simple answer is the game will be similar to 64 in the fact that you have to travel to different worlds and save Peach. But, it is different in the fact that this is a free roaming world! You have to use the unique and innovative Wiimote to direct Mairo in the way he should go and finally defeat the 'unknown' enemy.
Of course your wondering if Super Mario Galaxy will have multiplayer? During an interview with IGN, Takashi Tezuka, Nintendo's analysis and development's general manager, stated that multiplayer for Super Mario Galaxy is more likely to be co-operative. Two-player functionality was already confirmed for the game. The development team is already experimenting with new ways to use the Wii Remote so that one player can control Mario while the other aids him. Conversely, Miyamoto also suggested that the second player could have the ability to interfere with Mario's progress.

Bioshock Bioshock is a computer and video game in development by Irrational Games, for Microsoft Windows and Xbox 360. It is described by the developers as a "spiritual successor" to their previous PC title System Shock 2 [1]. It has been in development since late 2004.
The game starts with the player underwater following a plane crash in the ocean, surrounded by debris. No introductory cut scene is displayed explaining how this happened, leaving the player to decide for themselves why they were on the plane. Nearby, a lighthouse is sticking out of the water, in the middle of the ocean. Upon getting inside and traversing the internal stairwell, the player finds a bathysphere, with a corpse inside. Upon removing the corpse and descending in the bathysphere (having nowhere else to go), the player eventually reaches an underwater city on the ocean floor.
A plot unfolds involving the crumbling city, named Rapture, and the utopian society for which it was built. A man named Andrew Ryan, a former Soviet citizen, built the city in 1946, and the society was envisioned as the ultimate capitalistic and individualist paradise, with the elite achieving for themselves, rather than for the whole. Protected by a network of giant sea walls and consisting of a cluster of enormous skyscraper-shaped hive towers, Rapture was designed to be entirely self-supporting, with all of its electricity, food production, water purification and defense systems powered by the natural undersea currents of the ocean. At one point, it is learned that Rapture's population numbered several thousand at its peak during the early 1960s, composed of those people Ryan viewed as the best examples of mankind. A large and tiered economy grew among the people, catering different quality products to different levels of the society. The city itself is inspired by Art Deco and has an appearance merging the futuristic and archaic.
A scientific discovery upset the balance of the society. Two scientists studying ocean-floor dwelling creatures discovered a species of sea slug that secretes pure stem cells. These could be used to enhance one's body, improving physical or mental capabilities, curing diseases and healing injuries. A young entrepreneur named Fontaine invested early on in the research to gain control over the material. The substance, dubbed "Adam", became so sought after in the society, that it became the dominant currency of the city. A "full-scale genetic arms race" broke out between Ryan and Fontaine as Fontaine's monopoly on Adam threatened the current social structure. Ryan eventually won, but everyone in the city was permanently changed. During the war, it was discovered that Adam could be used to modify one's body, combining technology and mutations to adapt and survive the conflict, but losing their humanity in the process. During the conflict, all natural sources of Adam were destroyed, which eventually resulted in a major shift in the "ecology" of the city, as all inhabitants had become biologically dependent on Adam to survive.
When the player arrives in Rapture, the city is in a state of disrepair, its vast underground living areas and laboratory complexes scarred by the effects of the civil war and poisoned by biological weapons. Low-level flooding is also found to be a problem, as the use of high-powered explosives and corrosion weapons during the war created small breaches in the city's sea walls, allowing the sea to enter some of the buildings.
As the player descends through the underwater city, he or she will explore the many levels of the giant undersea base, including the huge living quarters modules, the multi-floored scientific headquarters and the undersea monorail transport network. Remnants of the last days remain in notes and recordings made by the citizens before and during the collapse of Rapture's society. Not only does this provide background, it also opens new avenues in the player's interaction with the ecology of Rapture.
The game was originally planned to be set at some point in the near future, in an abandoned WW2 laboratory. Coverage in the March, 2006 issue of the magazine Game Informer sets the game in the 1960s, in an underwater city known as Rapture.

World's Fastest Cars

The world of the superfast cars is where fantasy blurs with reality. Sleek, sexy and of coarse superfast, these cars look like what a teenaged boy might dream up if he was given a drafting pencil,a wind tunnel and an assembly plant to play with.
Adding to the mystique of cars such as the Koenigsegg CCR or the Mercedes-Benz SLR Mc Laryan, and undeescoring their unreality,is that these cars are not only astonishingly expensive but also very very rare. In fact, because of speed restrictions, emissions, safety testing and the availability od good roads and talented mechanics, few countries have the facilities in which to drive, let alone build, one of these beauties.
The world's fastest cars can only to be spotted in US and Europe, and very few in other countinents including Asia. While it came as little surprise that countries with legendary racing heritages, like Italy and Germany, made the list, it was a bit of surprise, however, that, given its enormous share ofthe international auto market, Japan did not.
Equally curious, two countries with small-to-nonexistent auto industries, Holland and Sweden, did. The entry point is a car thatcan do a minimum of 202mph, but the top speeds can be as high as, in the case od the new Saleen S7 Twin Turbo, the wotld's fastest car and America's most expensive car, 260mph. These are cars on an entirely different order of being, bearing asmuch resemblance to a nomal passenger car as a tinfoil gum wrapper has to the Koh-i-noor diamond.
The world's fastest cars give a few lucky and very wealthy people a chance to take the thrill of being a racecar drivers home with them. As one racecar bulider pointed out, owning any of the cars om the list means you can drive yourself to the track, beat the race cars that were hauled there in trailers and then drive home in the comfort of something a race car wouldn't have, air conditioning.
Some of the super cars like Porsche 911 is unfirgiving and driving a ditch made Spyker C8 Double 12 S needs to spend a quarter-of-a-million dollars. While american auto makers have the most cars on the list-four out of 14,running a close second are British automakers, ith three. Britian continues to produce gorgrous- and extremely fast- cars fo the well-heeled buyer, such as the low volume, exotic Ultima Can-Am 640, which is inspired by classic reacecars of the 1960's and ' 70's.
Based on our reserch, here is a brief details about the world's fastest cars:

Saleen S7
The Saleen S7 is a supercar that was jointly designed by RML and Saleen, Incorporated and is currently being built at Saleen's headquarters factory in Irvine, California. It is constructed with a unique hybrid of a steel spaceframe and aluminum honeycomb panels encased with autoclave-cured carbon fiber bodywork. Engineering of the unique engine that is used in the S7 was headed by Billy Tally, Saleen's current Vice President of Advanced Engineering.
Saleen S7 race cars were sold prior to 2002, but the first Saleen S7 road car to be sold was a 2003 Lizstick Red chassis #018 that was delivered on June 6, 2002. Prior to 2005, the S7 was naturally-aspirated and produced 550 hp (410 kW). For the 2005 model year, the engine was equipped with two turbochargers and power output was increased to 750 hp (559 kW). The car was designed to be a Twin Turbo setup from the beginning, however.
The Saleen S7 has also been campaigned in racing events around the world. It has been met with notable success in the IMSA's American Le Mans Series, where it competes in the GT-1 class. In all, it has won over 40 events around the globe; mostly in the American Le Mans and in the FIA GT championship. The S7 has achieved 7 GT Championship Wins, including the French GT championship. Saleen also introduced factory supported aftermarket packages for 850 and 1035bhp in early 2006. The latter option adds approximately $75,600 to the list price. In late 2006 there will be a third party top speed run for the 750bhp S7.

Koenigsegg CCR
The CCR is based on the Koenigsegg CC8S, featuring more power and higher performance. The improved-power engine of the prototype was made possible by the use of a Lysholm twin-screw supercharger and a new titanium exhaust system. This takes the power output to a maximum of 806 hp (601 kW) at 6,900 rpm. Torque is also distributed evenly and peaks at 920 N·m (678 ft·lbf) at 5,700 rpm. This car was the first production vehicle to sport a horsepower gauge - it has since been joined by the Bugatti Veyron.
However, this supercharger is not used in production cars. According to the official Koenigsegg book (ISBN 91-975178-3-6), the Lysholm twin-screw supercharger was lumbering and difficult to install in the mid-engined package. The production CCR is equipped with dual centrifugal compressors which are manufactured by Rotrex instead. It provides the same power, but lowers the peak torque point from 5,700 to 5,400 rpm.
Externally the CCR looks similar to the CC8S, but features a new side air-intake design, a tweaked headlight arrangement, a revised rear-end, larger brakes, more power and new front splitters for optimized downforce. Like the CC8S, the CCR is a two-seat coupe with a mid-engine, featuring large, high-tech dihedral synchro-helix actuation doors that open by rotating up and forward.
To honour the Swedish Fighter Jet Squadron No. 1, (Johan röd) which had occupied the current facility of Koenigsegg, the CCR is adorned with a symbol of a ghost, the symbol of the squadron.
On a History Channel special on the CCR (Aug, 2006), Koenigsegg states that the base price for the CCR is approximately US$590,000.

Koenigsegg CC8s
The Koenigsegg CC8S is an automobile made by Koenigsegg. It is a supercar with a MR drivetrain layout, however, it is no longer in production. Koenigsegg has since made the Koenigsegg CCR, and Koenigsegg CCX.
When introduced, it was the fastest street-legal car in production, with a claimed top speed of 390 km/h (240 mph), and an acceleration that takes it up to 100 km/h (62 mph) in less than 3.5 seconds. In 2006, however, it was beaten by the Bugatti Veyron. The CC8S's body and chassis are made of carbon fiber, reinforced with kevlar and aluminium honeycomb. These facts combined with the engine give it a power to weigh ratio of 2.4 kg/kW (4 lb/hp), an impressive figure equal to the McLaren F1 and greater than the 2.6 kg/kW (4.3 lb/hp) of the Bugatti Veyron.
The Koenigsegg-developed double wishbone suspension system, modeled from Formula One racing, has been judged by expert test-drivers to provide better handling than any competing supercar. Like a racing car, it can be fully modified to optimize the vehicle for the track.
A hardtop roof-panel, which can be removed and stored under the front hood, covers the luxurious interior. The leather and aluminum fitted cabin incorporates all the top equipment for comfort and security.

Mercedes SLR McLaren
The Mercedes-Benz SLR McLaren revives the glorious tradition of the SLR and marks the reawakening of Mercedes-Benz' passion for super sports cars. It is a passion which can be traced way back through automotive history and which was demon-strated with the Uhlenhaut Coupe. A contemporary interpretation of stylistic elements lifted from the original SLR and design details taken from the 2003 Formula 1 Silver Arrows allow the 21st-century SLR to form a bridge between the past and the future, bringing cutting-edge motorsport technology to the road, just as the inspirational SLR Coupe did in 1955.
The new super sports car allows Mercedes-Benz and its Formula 1 partner McLaren to showcase their collective experience in the development, construction and production of high-performance sports cars. This combination of knowledge and expertise is evident not only in the host of pioneering developments, impressive performance figures and superior driving characteristics of the SLR, but also in the extremely high levels of safety and practicality which it offers. These attributes come together to form the basis for an automobile with a very special charisma - an impressive synthesis of Mercedes tradition and innovation in every respect.
Just like its legendary predecessor of 1955, this SLR incorporates new technological developments which are ahead of their time. For evidence, simply take a glance under the bonnet at the Mercedes-AMG V8 powerplant. With its 5.5-litre displacement and screw-type compressor, the engine develops a peak output of 460 kW/626 hp and delivers its maximum torque of 780 Newtonmetres from 3250 rpm - a figure which remains constant across a broad engine speed range of up to 5000 rpm. With this kind of power under the bonnet, the Mercedes-Benz SLR McLaren delivers performance figures which are among the best in its class: this high-performance sports car takes just 3.8 seconds to sprint from 0 to 100 km/h, it passes the 200 km/h mark after 10.6 seconds, and from a standing start it takes just 28.8 seconds to reach 300 km/h. The two-seater has a top speed of 207 mph (334 km/h).
In the interests of optimum weight distribution, optimum dynamic handling and high stability on braking, the Mercedes-Benz SLR McLaren has a front mid-engined design. The V8 powerplant is mounted on a robust aluminium frame and has a low installation position. Water-type charge-air cooling, three valves per cylinder, dry sump lubrication and four metal catalytic converters are further special features of this powerful engine - an engine which already meets stringent EU 4 exhaust gas regulations which are not due to come into force until 2005.

Lamborghini's Murcielago
The Lamborghini Murciélago is a supercar made by Automobili Lamborghini S.p.A. and designed by Luc Donckerwolke. It was introduced in 2001 as the successor to the Diablo. The Murciélago is a two door, two seat coupé. To celebrate the Lamborghini company's 40th birthday, 50 special edition Murciélagos were built during the autumn of 2003.
An open-top version called the Murciélago roadster was introduced in 2004 for the 2005 model year. The roadster features similar performance to the coupé with a more aggressive rear flank, as well as a considerably higher price tag.
The Murciélago sports a 6.2 L version of the legendary Lamborghini V12 engine, a six-speed manual or six-speed sequential automatic transmission, and all-wheel drive. It also has a rear spoiler that can be raised to an angle of 70 degrees, side mirrors that fold in to improve aerodynamics, and side scoops that automatically open to the needed size to let in just the right amount of air needed to cool its engine. The name Murciélago comes from a bull that survived 24 sword strokes in an 1879 fight at the arena of Cordoba, and fought with such passion and spirit that the matador chose to spare its life, a rare honor. In another Lamborghini tie-in, the bull was later presented as a gift to Don Antonio Miura, a noted breeder, and went on to sire a line of famous fighting bulls. Murciélago also means bat in Spanish, and a Murciélago roadster is featured briefly in the movie Batman Begins. The coupé's base price is US$273,000, which is US$90,000 more than its smaller sibling, the Lamborghini Gallardo.
Lamborghini have announced two more powerful models, the XTR, a track-only car with a 700 bhp version of the V12, and the LP640 with 640 bhp. Although the XTR is not street legal, the LP640 met the standards and is expected to be introduced in March 2007.

Porsche Carrera GT
Porsche began developing the Carrera GT in 1999 as a successor to the 911 GT1 car they had discontinued in late 1998 because of FIA rule changes. However, there was speculation that Porsche discontinued development at the behest of VW/Audi chairman Ferdinand Piëch - Piëch was reportedly concerned over the prospect of a Porsche vehicle competing against the Audi R8 race car, which had just been introduced. As a member of the Porsche family, Piëch holds a seat on the company's board of directors and owns a percentage of the firm, so his influence could be exacted from inside. In addition, Porsche needed to free up capital and manpower for development work on the Cayenne, and dropping development of the race car made it possible.
Porsche did however produce one unit, and showed it at the 2000 Geneva Motor Show, mainly in an attempt to draw attention to their display. Surprising interest in the vehicle and an influx of revenue being provided by the Cayenne helped Porsche decide to make use of the car, and development started on a road-legal version that would be produced in small numbers at Porsche's new manufacturing facility in Leipzig. Porsche started a production run of Carrera GTs in 2004, shipping the units with an MSRP of $440,000 USD and a dealer invoice price of approximately $414,800 USD. In addition, the delivery charge could be as much as $15,000 USD. The first Carrera GT went on sale in the US on Jan 31, 2004.
Originally, a production run of 1,500 cars was slated. But Porsche announced in August, 2005 that it would not continue production of the Carrera GT throughout 2006. Porsche announced that this discontinuation was due to changing airbag regulations in the US. However, reports of diminishing sales volumes, relatively high dealer inventory levels, and dealer discounts below MSRP were reported by the automotive press as being the true factors driving an early end to the production run[citation needed]. Despite the early end to production, sales of the Carrera GT were a huge success, with worldwide sales volumes surpassing the combined totals of Ferrari's Enzo Ferrari, Mercedes' SLR McLaren, and Pagani's Zonda models[1].
The Carrera GT is powered by an all-new 5.7 litre V10 engine producing 612 DIN (605 SAE) horsepower (450 kW) whereas the original concept car featured a 5.5 litre version rated at 558 hp (416 kW). Porsche claims it will accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h (62.5 mph) in 3.9 seconds and has a maximum speed of 330 km/h (205 mph), although road tests indicated that in reality the car could accelerate from 0-60 in under 3.5 seconds and to 0-100 in 6.8 seconds and has a top speed of 336-346 km/h (209-215.2 mph). The Carrera GT has a basic 5 colour paint schemes which include: Black, Guards Red, Fayence Yellow, Basalt Black, GT Silver and Seal Grey. Custom colors were also available from the factory. A six-speed manual transmission is the only available transmission, in contrast to its rival the Enzo Ferrari which is only offered with sequential manual transmission. Attached to this gearbox is a birch/ash gearknob which pays homage to the wooden gearknob used in the Porsche 917 Le Mans racers. With the Enzo Ferrari priced initially around $660,000, the Carrera GT base price of $448,400 makes the dream of owning a piece of Le Mans inspired technology somewhat more attainable. The Carrera GT is also priced at $600,000 in Canadian dollars, and at 390,000 in Euros.
The Carrera GT has large side inlets and airdams that help cool the large V-10 that lies framed by the carbon fibre rear hood. Fitted with Porsche's latest brake system, the 15 inch ceramic pad brakes make a stunning appearance underneath the 19 inch front and 20 inch rear tires. Similar to other Porsche Models, the GT includes an automated rear wing spoiler which deploys in the higher ranges of speed (70 mph).
As of May 6, 2006, 1,270 GT's had been sold, with 604 being sold in the United States

Aston Martin's Vanquish S
The fastest production model ever to be built by Aston Martin made its world debut at the 2004 Paris Motor Show. With a maximum speed in excess of 200mph and a 6.0 litre V12 engine developing 520 horsepower, the Vanquish S has been designed to deliver even greater performance, complemented by subtle suspension and steering changes and a number of interior and external style revisions. The Vanquish S has received subtle but effective changes to complement its elegant muscular body. The famous Aston Martin grille has a new rounded and more open appearance for better cooling, and an aerodynamic splitter improves high-speed stability. At the rear, a redesigned boot lid featuring a new high mounted stop lamp reduces lift and improves balance and stability, helping to achieve an impressive Cd figure of 0.32.
These differences on the Vanquish S not only improve the appearance but also enhance performance. All the exterior body panels are constructed from aluminium with each individual panel hand tailored to the central structure to ensure a perfect panel fit. Every carefully detailed feature provides graphic evidence of the painstaking craftsmanship and quality, which is invested in its construction at Aston Martin’s Newport Pagnell site in Buckinghamshire.
Revised steering geometry provides a 20% quicker response, allowing the driver to apply a reduced input for required steering response. This enables the driver to be more precise with inputs - especially on winding roads - and more accurate feedback from the chassis. The Sports Dynamics suspension, steering and braking package is now standard on the Vanquish S. This includes stiffer springs and dampers and shorter steering arms. The brakes have been upgraded to incorporate larger six piston calipers and larger grooved and ventilated front discs. The rear discs are 2mm wider for improved heat dissipation. The use of floating discs ensures the driver has consistent pedal feel under heavy braking whilst a new brake pedal assembly reduces travel and enhances pedal feel.

Thomas Haden Church .... Flint Marko/Sandman
Topher Grace .... Eddie Brock/Venom
Bill Nunn .... Joseph 'Robbie' Robertson
Directed by Sam Raimi

Peter Parker has finally managed to strike a balance between his devotion to MJ and his duties as a superhero. But there is a storm brewing on the horizon. When his suit suddenly changes, turning jet-black and enhancing his powers, it transforms Peter as well, bringing out the dark, vengeful side of his personality that he is struggling to control.
Columbia Pictures surprised Spider-Man fans at the 2006 San Diego Comic Con by publicizing only the appearance of director Sam Raimi but bringing Spider-Man 3 stars Tobey Maguire, Kirsten Dunst, Topher Grace, Thomas Haden Church and Bryce Dallas Howard as well as producer Laura Ziskin to talk to the huge crowd gathered for one of the biggest events of its kind in the world.
Not only did the crowd of 5,000+ get to hear from the film’s stars, they were also treated to amazing footage from Spider-Man 3 put together just for the event. The footage had never been screened for the public before and included unfinished scenes as well as the first shots of Sandman (Haden Church) in action and a quick look at Venom (Grace).
Judging by the reaction of the crowd to the footage, Raimi and Co’s third Spider-Man movie easily lives up to the first two films of the series.
Prior to taking the stage to field questions from fans, the cast and director Raimi took part in small press conference in which Raimi did a great job of dodging questions that were too specific and that might lead to revealing storylines he wants to keep secret until the film’s release. Maguire and Dunst also showed great restraint, carefully wording their answers so that no spoilers could possibly be divulged.
The Big News Coming Out at Comic Con: Director Sam Raimi started the press conference out on a lighter note by joking when asked if he’d be making any big announcements during the Spider-Man 3 presentation. "I’m having a baby. Oh, you mean in regards to the story and the characters in the picture? Not interested in my personal life then, I guess? That’s fine, be that way. Yes, there is a big announcement that we were going to make today in front of the kids who’ve come to Comic Con, and that is that the movie will… One of the big villains that we have been expecting, will be my mother-in-law; will be Venom. He’s coming to star across from Tobey [Maguire] in this picture as the villain, along with Thomas Haden Church who plays the Sandman."
Sam Raimi on the Decision to Include Venom in Spider-Man 3: "Avi Arad, who’s really got his pulse on all the Marvel fans better than any head of the corporation has ever understood those people that are interested in the corporation’s product - he really knows what those kids want - he said, ‘You’ve had two Spider-Man pictures. This third one - there’s so many kids, so many fans of Spider-Man want to see Venom. Even if you didn’t grow up with him, they want to see him. You’ve got the Sandman, that’s one of your favorite villains. Why don’t you bring Venom in also and make those kids, the fans of Venom, happy?’ So I thought that’s what we should do."
Raimi’s opinion of Venom as a villain in the Spider-Man film world changed after seeing him brought to life by Topher Grace. "Now that I’ve seen Topher Grace perform him, then saw what Alvin Sargent did with the script… He created a great character. He really filled out Eddie Brock into a very meaningful character. Tobey has a great energy with him in the few scenes that they play together as competitors, and I really like him now."
The Design of Venom: Raimi credits his entire team with creating Venom’s look. "We had a great design team on this picture led by James Acheson, our costume designer, working with a team of brilliant sculptors, artists, painters, and we studied all the different looks. So many different artists created different looks of Venom and we tried to take the ones that we thought would work best for us, but also the ones that Avi felt were the most classic elements and base it on that."
Making Venom realistic within the world of the Spider-Man movies was a challenge for director Raimi. "There’s a lot of fantastic elements about Venom that you could say are in conflict with the realism that we wanted to have in the picture," explained Raimi. "But we just said to ourselves, ‘Kirsten and Tobey, you’ll have to do the heavy lifting here to bring it back down to earth because there’s this wild goo from outer space and you’re just going to have to connect us to the characters.’"
Raimi laughed at the follow-up to the ‘realistic’ question which called him on the ‘goo’ statement. Asked if his answer confirms Venom will be from outer space, Raimi countered with, "(Laughing) I never said that. I don’t know what you’re talking about."
The other two Spider-Man movies include visual nods to the covers and panels from the comics. Raimi says the third film does something similar. "In this story we’re less specific but we did try and stay very true to the Venom comic books when they describe his birth – the creation of Venom. We did try and stay true to the writers’ and the artists’ ideas of how that happened."
Tobey Maguire on His New Costume: Maguire said there wasn’t much of a difference between the two Spider-Man costumes he dons in the film. "They’re pretty much the same. I mean what it feels like, the material’s similar. I think it’s probably a little sleeker and sexier, you know, kind of more like me in real life (laughing)."
Juggling Multiple Villains and Love Triangles: "Well, Spider-Man comic books had all these characters and successfully interwove their stories," said Raimi. "A lot of what we’re doing is not introducing elements. Like if Harry Osborn does decide to seek vengeance upon Peter Parker for the death of his father, it’s certainly something that’s been set up in the first and second picture.
This is more the conclusion of that. We have less work to do in that sense of not just introducing all of these new people.
One of the other villains we’ve tried to weave the story into Peter Parker’s personal life in as important of a way as we could, in a way that hopefully will make more of the first two pictures and give us insights into what we’ve seen before. I think probably only with the Brock character is there a complete new introduction of elements into Peter’s life but that’s ok, I think, because he can meet new people, too."
Kirsten Dunst on How Mary Jane Changes in Spider-Man 3: "I never know what to say without giving it away. Basically she’s still an actress and you can see where it was heading towards in the last film with Peter. Emotionally, much more adult, more mature and there’s a lot more at stake because their relationship – they’re together. So emotionally it’s just, there’s a lot more at stake for all the characters and I think that we’ve gone to their relationship because they’re older, and just developed more and become more complicated. So emotionally, it’s a much heavier film."
Tobey Maguire’s Take on His Character’s Development: "You know for me one of the most important [things is] there’s obviously a continuity of character that you have to keep up. Peter Parker is Peter Parker and so it’s important to not just try to like create new kind of things for Peter just for the sake of that. But I don’t necessarily want to see the same scenes played out and Peter going through the same kind of things that he’s gone through. So I think that Alvin and the other people who had input into Peter’s story and what Peter’s going through in this movie, did a fantastic job because as an actor for me it was like – there was nothing stale about it. I got to approach it and got to do like brand new, really fun, interesting things for myself. And in terms of what the specifics of that are, you know, you’ll see when you check out the movie."
Maguire delves a little bit into the darker side of Peter Parker in the third Spider-Man outing. "Again, it was just because we’ve gone into some different areas that it was new and fun for me without losing touch with who Peter is. I really enjoyed the things that I got to do in the movie."
Sam Raimi’s Casting Choices: Raimi says hair color and other physical attributes never figure into his decision on who to cast in any role. Specifically addressing the choice of Bryce Dallas Howard to play Gwen Stacy, Raimi said, "We just cast the best actress for the part. Tobey, our producer Laura Ziskin, myself, Grant Curtis - just trying to find the best actress for the role. Best actress – not someone that looked like Gwen Stacy of the comic books, although once the actress would have been cast, that would have been our immediate job. How could we make her look like the image the kids have grown up with? But nevertheless, casting we’re just trying to find the right person who could make it real, take the dialogue and bring it to life. See things – read it in the most unexpected way – bring some life to it. Make it interesting, exciting for me who was watching it, for Tobey who was acting in it, for Laura who was watching it with us. That’s really what the casting was about.
The moment came when Bryce read the scene, one particular scene, and it came to life for us suddenly. We all looked to each other and felt energized. It was a different thing than with Kirsten and Tobey because we were after a different relationship, actually, there. But here we were looking for a great actress and that’s what seemed to jump out at us."
Is Spider-Man 3 the Completion of the Story?: Does the third film bring closure and are there more movies in the works? Kirsten Dunst answered, "Well, I mean, [this is] definitely a culmination but you would have had to have seen the first and the second. This definitely ties up some story lines. But if there more stories to tell, if there are things that are unresolved, then we will tell them. But I think that depends on if everyone staying, there’s a story to tell. If there’s a good story, I’ll be there."
The Decision to Film in Cleveland: Cleveland’s not exactly the first location that pops into mind when you think of a Spider-Man movie. Raimi said it all came down to being able to shut down streets. "Cleveland was wonderful to us. They really put the red carpet out for us. [We did] a tremendous amount of shooting there so we’re very thankful to that city.
What happened was the sound stages are in Los Angeles, because we’re Columbia Pictures, so we shot right on the back lot – Columbia Pictures in Los Angeles. All the stage work was done there, 90% of it. And then New York has always been the city as you know, of Spider Man, so we went to New York to shoot all the location photography. Now there’s some car action in the story – there’s a car action sequence - but we couldn’t ask Manhattan [to shot that there].
Manhattan couldn’t give us ten straight blocks of city dedicated to our car chase, but Cleveland could. So we sent a second unit there under the direction of Dan Bradley, a great stunt coordinator and second director I’ve worked with before, to shoot the car action stunts there. For like ten days we were able to monopolize these streets. That’s why we shot in Cleveland."
The Improvements in Special Effects: Discussing the third film’s effects Raimi explained, "I think what’s different is we had new challenges this time. We had to bring about the Sandman and we’ve got a great special effects designer in Scott Stokdyck who was one of the two fellows who did the first two Spider-Man pictures, along with John Dykstra, and now he’s got the job alone. We’ve got a lot of the same animators, we’ve replaced a lot of them, others have moved on. But the core team is there and we’ve tried to build upon it so we’ve become better at working with animation.
I’ve learned a lot over the last five years. It’s like directing animated picture after animated picture, you start to understand what’s working and what’s not and why. But as far as the technical aspect and what the new hurdles are, it’s really about bringing about, for us, Sandman to the screen. How can we make it believable to the audience? Not just fantastic, but believable that this fellow could turn into sand and become this substance and still be a human being. It’s really without feeling the hand and the manipulation of the artist all the time, but just getting into the dream of it and getting sucked up into the story. So it’s about technical expertise and artistic expertise on behalf of the teams of artists we have working on those effects. They made a lot of new techniques available to themselves. They’ve developed some new programs, written some new programs. They’ve taken some existing software and combined it in new ways that we haven’t seen – new applications for it and a lot of just ideas - ideas that they did some groundbreaking on. And are still groundbreaking on. We still aren’t sure we can do it, actually."
Raimi continued, "Venom is less of a technical challenge and more of an artistic challenge in trying to capture the spirit of this very powerful, somewhat Spiderized graceful-but-animal, not Spider-Man’s style of movement – that’s more about capturing a dance form on screen."
The Physical Side of Playing Spider-Man: Maguire says his back’s doing fine. "I enjoy doing this stuff, and I do the stuff that I can do and that’s safe. I don’t know. It’s an interesting part of the job. I think when I watch the stunt men do really, really crazy stuff, my mind gets blown and I go, ‘I can’t believe they do that.’ It’s really amazing. And this, me saying this is a little ill-advised, you know, that most actors – I don’t understand this – the actors come in and say that I do all my own stunts. By the way, I just want to tell you guys now any actor that says, ‘I do all my own stunts,’ is not telling you the truth unless they’re like jumping over a little gate or something."
Sam Raimi on the Challenges of Adapting This Story Three Times: "What’s been easier each time is getting to know the family that we work with, and really trusting them to the point they become complete collaborators. From Laura Ziskin to Alvin Sargent, Tobey, Kirsten, James Franco, Rosemary Harris, the directors of photography, the animators I was speaking of, the editors – there’s so many people that make this movie. Unlike a lot of smaller films where it’s one person - the actors and the writer and the producer, a tiny little core - there’s a thousand people making this. So it’s gotten a lot easier because we’ve got this system of knowing each other, knowing how we work together. Trusting each other. That has made everything a lot easier."
So be ready spiderman fans because the date is coming soon.

Intel duo Core (Yonah)
At the end of November, we finally did what we had been waiting to do for so long - provide the first performance benchmarks of Intel's Yonah processor, the dual core successor to the highly acclaimed Pentium M. However, our initial performance investigation was not without its flaws. Given the short amount of time that we had for benchmarking, we were forced to compare to older numbers from previous reviews, which unfortunately lacked updated gaming, encoding and 3D rendering tests.
Despite the shortcomings of the initial article, we did manage to get a good look at the performance that we could expect from Yonah. Mainly, it was a fairly strong successor to the single core Pentium M and even more impressive was that it offered performance equal to that of AMD's Athlon 64 X2 without an on-die memory controller. Many AnandTech readers kept our methods in check, however, by quickly pointing out that the Yonah vs. Athlon 64 X2 comparison wasn't exactly fair, as Yonah is equipped with a full 2MB of L2 cache, whereas the Athlon 64 X2 3800+ that we were comparing it against only had 512KB per processor, possibly painting Yonah in a better light.
So for this follow-up, we've done two important things. For starters, we've updated the benchmark suite considerably, including modern day games and a few professional-level applications hopefully to get a better perspective on Yonah's performance. We've also included an Athlon 64 X2 running at 2.0GHz, but with each core having a full 1MB L2 cache, making the Yonah vs. X2 comparison as close to even as possible (not mentioning the fact that AMD has twice the advantage in this round, with both a larger L1 cache and an on-die memory controller, but it should make things interesting).
Yonah is the most efficient dual core processor that we've tested to date. Granted that it does have the advantage of being on Intel's 65nm process whereas the Athlon 64 X2 is still based on AMD's 90nm process, but given that AMD is around a year away from transitioning to 65nm, it is an advantage that Intel has the right to enjoy.

Intel Dual Core Processor - Intel Core 2 Duo & Intel Core 2 Extreme
Core 2 Duo - Intel is finally releasing its new family of Dual Core Processors. Intel new chips for desktops, Intel Core 2 Duo, will be the first Dual Core processor with Intels new Core micro-architecture. Intel Core2Duo will replace the age old Pentium Processors. Intel is also releasing a new Dual Core Processor for gamers and high end users - Intel Core 2 Extreme. Both Dual Core Chips, Intel Core 2 Duo & Intel Core 2 Extreme offer better performance and use less power. Intel's New Dual Core Micro-architecture is the first change since the Pentium 4 was released. Intel Core 2 Duo and Intel Core 2 Extreme are to ship at the end of July. More Core2Duo models will ship later on.

Intel’s New Mobile Low Power CPU’s Core 2 Duo L7400 & L7200
Intel continues with its quite release of New Core 2 Duo CPU’s. This week Intel quietly released the Core 2 Duo mobile CPU’s - the Core 2 Duo L7400 and the Core2Duo L7200. Both CPU’s offer ultra low voltage which will increase battery time and performance compared to the older models.
The desktop Core 2 Duo CPU’s run on 34 W of power (i.e. TDP), which were a vast improvement over the old Netburst / Pentium 4 power hungry processors. The new mobile Core 2 Duo processor will run on only 17 W of power. This will allow the mobile users to equip themselves with faster processors without comprising their battery time.
The Mobile Low Voltage Core 2 Duo Processors comes in two speeds. The Core 2 Duo L7400 runs at 1.5 GHz and the Core2Duo L7200 runs at 1.33 GHz. Both feature 4 MB of cache and a 667 MHz FSB.

Intel’s New Cheaper CPU - Core 2 Duo E4300 – New Allendale Core Micro-Architecture
The CES has proved to be more exciting than usual and as expected, Steve Jobs stole the show with his iPhone keynote speech. Intel on the other hand has started to release it Quad Core Processors.
Along with the new powerful quad core processors, Intel is also trying to get the Core 2 CPU's in to the low end CPU market (where until now Intel has been very successful with the Celron CPUs). Hence the E400 series and the new micro architecture - Allendale.
The Allendale micro architecture is based on the Conroe micro architecture found in all the Core 2 Duo processors. It differs in that the Conroe processors have been designed with 4MB of cache. Intel has disconnected 2 MB of cache on the cheaper processors the E6300 and E6400, but the physical cache is still there. On the E4000 series and the Allendale micro-architecture there is only 2 MB of cache to begin with. This saved Intel a couple of million transistors, thus reducing the cost of production which means that we get cheaper processors.
The E4300 is priced at $163 and Intel plans to make the CPU even more affordable in Q2 by reducing the price to $113.
So what are we getting for our money?

The Year of Dual Core Processors - Core Duo & Core 2 Duo
Well the year 2006 is coming to an end, and what a year it has been. The year of Dual Core Processors.
While most experts thought that the next revolution in the hardware world would be the switch to 64 bit processing, it seems that 64 bit processing is has gone nowhere.

Intel Quietly Updates the Core 2 Duo - New T7600G & Revisions
Intel is seems, has chosen the quite path to continue its ongoing battle with AMD.
Intel is continuing to update its Core 2 Duo Processor family. The latest release has been done some what quietly as Intel just released an Overclockable Core2duo processor the T7600G. The 'G' is there to indicate that the Processor is overclockable or as Intel put it...

Intel Core 2 Duo Revamp - Delayed!
As was widely known, Intel was planning to refresh it Core 2 Duo processor line in Q2 of 2007. New reports coming from Asia, indicate that the Core2Duo revamp has been pushed off to Q3 of 2007.
Intel was planning to release more Core 2 Duo CPU's with higher speeds and 4MB L2 cache with higher FSB speeds.

Here are some details:

Desktop Core2Duo:

Notebook/Laptop Core2Duo:

Note: The voltage is 1.0375 – 1.3 V for all of the Intel Core 2 Duo mobile processors.
